Freelancewriting.com just released a very comprehensive survey on the current state of the industry.
And it’s an interesting read.
I’ll get the depressing news out of the way first – most freelancers earn just $10,000 a year.
And a majority of them believe the market is going to get even more competitive.
There is some good news however. Those who dedicate themselves to working full-time earn a pretty decent $40,000 annually and most of those surveyed said they want to continue in the business.
The reasons for this varied, but most freelancers said freedom to work anywhere was a big factor. As was setting their own schedules, and being able to select projects based on what they enjoy/are interested in.
